Lina Marsso is an Assistant Professor at Polytechnique Montréal and an Associate Academic Member of Mila. Her work combines formal methods and software engineering to assess and improve the safety and responsibility of intelligent systems.

Research

She studies conformance testing, satisfiability checking, and the reliability of perception and machine learning components. Another focus is translating social, legal, ethical, empathetic, and cultural requirements into specifications that can be analyzed and monitored.

Background

Before joining Polytechnique Montréal, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto with Marsha Chechik. She completed her PhD in the CONVECS team at Inria in 2019, supervised by Radu Mateescu, Ioannis Parissis, and Wendelin Serwe. Her thesis examined model-based testing of GALS systems.

She earned an MSc in computer science from Grenoble in 2016 and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Strasbourg in 2014.
