Aryan Kargwal is a PhD student at Polytechnique Montréal, co-supervised by Pierre-Yves Lajoie and Lina Marsso. He researches perception, planning, and formal verification for robots operating in changing environments.
His interests include structured spatial representations, open-set perception, planning under uncertainty, runtime verification, and safe navigation. He studies how robots can check safety requirements before acting, including in multi-robot environments shared with people.
Aryan completed a master’s degree in telecommunications at INRS. His thesis studied region-based segmentation of Arctic shoreline imagery, building on computer vision and scene understanding under difficult visual conditions.
